Potter Dawn Soltysiak and papermaker Donna Allgaier-Lamberti will be offering summer art experiences for youths with "Clay & Paper Camp for Kids on Fernwood Farm" held on two consecutive Friday's in August.

The art camp will be held in two half-day blocks that begin on Friday, Aug. 1st and end on August 8th.  This art camp is appropriate for children age's 9 and up.  The cost is $50 per child and reservations are required.

During session one being held on Fri., Aug. 1, from 9:30 to noon, students will learn to work with clay as a medium, assisted by potter Dawn Soltysiak and will make friendship beads and create a clay wall pocket. Students will work with papermaker Donna Allgaier-Lamberti and learn to make handmade plant papers using straw and other natural materials found on the farm.

Session two, scheduled for Fri., Aug. 8, 9:30 to noon, will allow students to smoke-fire their friendship beads and glaze their nature pocket which they created in session one. Students will incorporate their beads and found objects collected during a walk on the 1890's farm estate into a hand-made paper nature scroll project.

The art camp will culminate with an gallery exhibition of the student's finished work on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, August 15th-17th and an artist reception for student artists to be held on Sunday, August 17th from 3 pm - 4:30 pm in which the art work will be exhibited then taken home. Parents, family members and the public are invited to view the students art and to enjoy the lemonade and cookie reception and tour of the farm.
